Radiology Technician - Flouroscopy

Summary Description:

The Procedure Room Radiology Technician's primary function is to assist the physician in the procedure room through operation of the fluoroscopy machine.

Responsibilities:

Perform the following duties as needed:



  • Record and maintain daily and weekly monitoring logs
  • Record results when the supervising physician performs scheduled testing
  • Move the C-arm up or down the field for positioning when the beam is off per physician instructions
  • Ensures operation of C-arm by requesting due preventive maintenance, following manufacturers instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, informs the back office supervisor for repairs, maintain equipment inventory, evaluate new equipment and techniques.
  • Clean the machine and procedure table between patients and at the end of the day
  • Replace radiation monitoring badges quarterly and submit badges for exposure reports
  • Wear lead aprons, thyroid collars and protective glasses while the imaging equipment is in use.
  • Monitoring badges will be worn on the front of the apron or on the thyroid collars.
  • Check Lead apron for tears and request for replacement.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with rules, procedures and regulations.
  • Prepares patient for procedure by assisting patient positioning, adjusting the operating table, adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, patient shielding and knowledge of exposure factors


Qualifications:

Must be able to communicate in the English language, both written and orally. Knowledge of medical terminology. Current BLS certification. Current California x-ray license and fluoroscopy permit, required. Must be able to conduct oneself in a mature, professional, and pleasant manner. Ability to multitask in time of compromising environment.
