This position requires applicants to be Bilingual in English and Spanish. Please only apply if you are fully fluent (able to read, write, and speak) in both languages. This skill will be tested.

  • Specifically seeking candidates with 18 graduate coursework credits in Latin American studies for a class beginning in spring 2025 (mid Jan).
Under the direction of the Dean of the General Education Pathway, or designee, to develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. Will require teaching courses in-person at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and/or online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Must have a master's degree or higher in History
OR
  • Master's degree or higher with 18 GRADUATE coursework credits in History including the following specializations: African-American, Latin American, Native American or Women's History from an accredited institution.

Minimum Occupational Requirements:
  • Bilingual fluency (Spanish/English) able to read, write, and speak, in both languages . Classes are taught in English.
Preferred Qualifications in ADDITION to the Minimums Listed Above:
  • Seeking bilingual Spanish/English candidates with 18 graduate coursework credits in Latin American studies for a class beginning in spring 2025 (mid Jan).
  • Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
  • Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including face-to-face, blended, and 100% online.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.

  • Online Information Management Systems -e.g. Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the spring semester, approximately mid-January 2025.

Job Details: This part-time pool position and will require teaching courses at MATC campuses.
Hours, location, and modality: In-person primarily and are based on enrollment and departmental need each semester.
Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.

Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
