Job Summary
Utilities consists of the Central Heating and Cooling Plant (CHCP), wastewater treatment plant, solid waste, water and gas services, high voltage electricity and outdoor lighting, Instrumentation & Controls, and campus biodigester. - Current registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in the State of California.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Civil or Environmental, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

- System knowledge of water treatment, water resources, water distribution, wastewater collections, and/or wastewater treatment.
- Skills to organize and present complex data in clear, understandable formats.
- Knowledge of windows-based computer operation including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and in an independent capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer (Civil or Environmental) in the State of California.
- Experience with utility system operation, maintenance, and analysis.
- Experience with permitting and regulatory compliance for water, wastewater, and solid waste operations.
- Ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment subject to changing priorities.
- Strong professional ethics and accountability. Ability to exercise integrity and discretion in all matters and to protect confidential information.
- Project management skills needed to assume responsibility for both high quality and timely accomplishment of projects.
- Knowledge of county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to water and wastewater systems.

Department Overview Under general supervision, provide engineering support for the Utilities civil operations, including the campus wastewater treatment plant, domestic water system, non-potable water systems, stormwater collection system, sewer system, and solid waste systems. Work with system managers, operators, and laboratory staff to support organizational objectives, focused on engineering, project management, and regulatory compliance. Work with individual Utilities system managers to evaluate system performance support maintenance and improvement projects. Support master planning and system assessments effort for future capital/deferred maintenance needs. POSITION INFORMATION
