Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Appointee position is to conduct research investigation into the characterization of oncogenic and tumor suppressor enhancer regions, as well as on the dissection of the interplay between metabolism and epigenetics in T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-
ALL) using mouse models under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. Drafts written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
- Conducts research experiments to understand the role and mechanisms of oncogenic and tumor suppressor enhancers as well as the interplay between metabolism and epigenetics to unveil new therapeutic strategies.
- Being able to effectively work with mouse models in vivo and perform FACS analyses.
- Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
- Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
- Gives oral presentations of the research

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant science finishing their training (following their residency and/or fellowship) who wish to prepare for careers in academic medicine.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Similarly, experience with FACS analyses or the ability to effectively learn this technique will be needed.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Background in cancer biology research, preferred.
- Experience with mouse colony management and mouse experiments in vivo is highly preferred.

ENVIRONMENT: Laboratory environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs, and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals. |
