Description

TMC, a LinQuest company is seeking a SkillBridge Staff Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our team at our office in either Las Cruces, NM or Colorado Springs, CO. The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance is required.

SkillBridge Internship Program Qualifications:



  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Have taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander written authorization and approval to participate in the DoD SkillBride program prior to the start of internship


Description:

The Staff Mechanical Engineer will research, develop plans, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Coordinates activities involved in manufacturing, welding, machining, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.

Responsibilities:



  • Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for data processing to develop mechanical models, drawings, and presentations. Develops products and systems such as structural frames, electrical interface components, mechanical systems, and heat transfer systems, by applying mechanical engineering principles.
  • Participate in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • May perform technical engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Determine labor and material costing for proposals and projects based on previous project experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software Applications
  • Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed
  • Effectively communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner
  • Have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Abides by TMC Design policies, procedures, and ISO9000/AS9100 quality policy
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience



  • 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or scientific field of study
    Training courses in Autodesk CFD and Autodesk Inventor
  • A relevant master's degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • A relevant PhD degree in engineering or science from an accredited college or university may be substituted for three (3) years of relevant work experience.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance
  • Working knowledge of CAD and CFD software
  • Working knowledge of and experience in the use of design calculators (Thermal, Center of Gravity, Vehicle Dynamics, Wind Loading, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software Applications
  • Abide by company policies

  • Basic knowledge of RF systems
  • Possesses working knowledge of shop equipment, hand tools, and their function/use
  • Interfaces with shop personnel on design/manufacturing projects
