Supervisor Role The Transfer Station Supervisor oversees daily operations in the recycling facility, ensuring that materials are processed efficiently while prioritizing safety, quality control, and productivity. This role involves managing staff, maintaining equipment, overseeing quality standards, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The MRF Supervisor also coordinates with internal departments and external vendors to optimize performance and meet business objectives. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Facility Operations: Manage the workflow of recyclable materials, ensuring that processes meet quality, budget, and safety standards.
- Quality Control: Oversee commodity grading and material integrity, ensuring products meet mill specifications and customer expectations.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and compliance with corporate safety standards.
- Staff Management: Supervise, train, and mentor plant employees, ensuring adherence to company policies and performance standards.
- Equipment Oversight: Manage the operation, maintenance, and repair of baling equipment and rolling stock. Ensure timely ordering of parts and supplies.
- Logistics Management: Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining efficiency in material handling and inventory.
- Vendor Relations: Maintain productive relationships with service vendors, mill buyers, and logistics partners.
- Housekeeping: Ensure the facility remains clean and organized, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in recycling plant management, with direct supervision of employees.
- Strong knowledge of quality control processes in a recycling facility.
- Proven experience with equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to manage logistics and coordinate with trucking and external vendors.
- Forklift, Skidsteer, and Track Hoe certification preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
Work Environment:
- Industrial facility with exposure to heavy machinery, varying temperatures, and noise.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring motor coordination.
