Overview
The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women's and 10 men's programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation's premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as "The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Equipment Manager - Athletics for the Athletics Finance & Administration department.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Maintains and is responsible for the laundry room and the locker distribution operation at the gymnasium.
  • Provides service and supplies for the locker and towel rooms at the gymnasium, stadium, and boat house.
  • Assists the Equipment Manager in the disposition of all athletic equipment and is fully responsible for all equipment in his/her absence.
  • Establishes and maintains a daily laundry program.
  • Cleans "team whites" and maintains a clean and sufficient supply of all team materials that require laundry service using the athletic facility's washers and dryers.
  • Issues and collects "team whites" daily for each intercollegiate team, towels for each physical education class, and towels and equipment for various athletic and physical education activities.
  • Issues locks and locker space in the team sport, general student, and staff locker rooms.
  • Collects locks at the end of each season and academic year and cheeks each lock and locker to determine its condition for further use.
  • Handles ocker room service for all visiting teams.
  • Assists all team players, students, and staff with their athletic equipment problems and provides emergency locker room or laundry service when necessary.
  • Assists the Equipment Manager in the preparation of athletic team equipment for individual games or for a season.
  • Assists in the classification and preparation of all equipment for reconditioning purposes.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school/vocational school education or equivalent.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in handling and care of athletic equipment.
  • Proficiency with computers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree.
  • Previous experience working in an athletic equipment room.
  • Experience with Helmet Tracker electronic inventory system.

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Position requires lifting boxes/bins up to 50lbs.
  • Evening and weekend hours are mandatory.
