Overview
The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.

Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.
Posting Summary
Rutgers is seeking a Grants & Contract Analyst II for the Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ. The Grants & Contract Analyst II will be fully responsible for Restricted Grants and Contracts, Unrestricted projects and administration of restricted and unrestricted funds.

Duties include:

  • Oversees payment for office, travel and meeting expenses. Prepare reports and spreadsheets containing findings, analyses, conclusions, and recommendations as requested.
  • Creates and maintains file on each individual grant and responsible for all critical components application, award, budget, analysis).
  • Prepares and Initiates Employee Charging Instructions, Journal Entries (salary and non-salary) according to Federal, State and University guidelines.
  • Coordinates the processing of budget adjustments and transfers, Employee Charging Instructions, salary transfers, purchase requisitions and purchase orders.

Minimum Education and Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, such as Business Administration plus two (2) years of experience in a grants or budget area.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent business acumen, accounting skills, detail oriented, excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications at an advanced level (specifically in Excel), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to resourceful by maximizing the utilization of the Rutgers resources.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Research grants and contracts budgeting and federal guidelines/regulations pertaining to Research and Development preferred.
