Principal Software Engineer

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.
Design and develop technical solutions that meet user needs for functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability. Lead the architecture, design and development for medium to large sized projects. Maintain the client facing online and mobile banking systems. Drive department best practices, guidelines implementation and adhering to standards. Build and maintain large software platforms. Design and develop enterprise solutions for specific business. Perform impact analysis of proposed changes on existing architecture, capabilities, system priorities, and technology solutions. Identify cost or benefit implications of proposed solutions. Create and maintain application architecture and related assets. May work remotely pursuant to First Citizens' Remote Work Guidelines policy. The position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive, bonus, or commission pay.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience as a Technical Architect, Technical Lead, Project Manager, Software Consultant, or a related occupation.

Position requires:

1. Agile software development practices and release;
2. Container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS;
3. Terraform, Gitlab, CI/CD principles;
4. Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL DB, and Oracle;
5. SQL and noSQL database administration and development;
6. Linux internals and administration - Network configuration of Firewalls, VPN, Routers/Switches, and Load Balancers;
7. AWS Networking & Security Groups; and
8. Messaging platform such as ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka.
