Description - External Job Summary: The Business Manager plays a crucial role in optimizing and enhancing business processes to drive operational efficiency and support strategic decision-making at McLean Hospital. The Business Manager is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting complex operational and administrative data. These data relate to the budgets pertaining to inpatient and procedural levels of care, managed care denials, oversight of key performance indicators associated with contracted business partners, and EPIC downtime operations. The Business Manager identifies trends and provides actionable insights to clinical leaders, directors, and members of the Administrative Team. This role often includes partnering with internal stakeholders and managing cross-functional work, developing performance metrics, and recommending solutions to improve processes and reduce costs. Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities) List up to 6 key outcome-based roles and responsibilities of this job. 1. Cross-Functional Collaboration. Partner with clinical leaders and Nursing Administration to manage operational budgets and maintain favorable variances; primarily within the inpatient and procedural levels of care. Review current business operational processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend strategies and tactics to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and reduce costs. Serve as a principal contact for this scope of work and actively assist in managing the respective budgets throughout the year. 2. Epic Downtown Procedures. Work closely with various departments across McLean Hospital to ensure that clinical and ancillary units are informed and prepared to deliver care effectively and safety during times when EPIC, the electronic health record, is offline. Enure that MGB standards and expectations are in place and met with high reliability. 3. Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Oversight among contracted business partners. Develop, report, trend, and maintain key performance indicator (KPI) data for the purposes of monitoring business operational effectiveness and making recommendations to the Administrative Team based on quantitative findings. 4. Managed Care Denial Oversight. Work closely with departments such as finance, utilization management, social work and operations to make recommendations in how to reduce payer denials and increase operational revenue for services.
