Now hiring a full time Surgery Scheduler for Vascular Surgery at Presbyterian Hospital on Central!

Summary:
Surgery scheduling and coordination are critical components of patient care. It is a complex process of coordinating patients' personal schedules and needs, surgeons' schedules, access to hospital facilities and insurance authorizations. Must have strong communication skills to coordinate with clinic, surgeon, OR, ASC and outside personnel to ensure case accuracy from creation to completion.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • A minimum of 18 months experience in a clinical setting.
  • Previous one on one experience with surgeon/s required
  • Requires strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to function under pressure while maintaining professionalism
  • Familiarity to CPT and ICD-10 coding


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with providers, patients, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Manage complex provider schedules including OR schedules, ASC schedules and clinic schedules.
  • Accuracy in scheduling is paramount in performanceAbility to schedule complex surgical procedures (et. al. total joint replacement, complex cardio-thoracic procedures, robotic cases, minimally invasive, gynecologic oncology and breast oncology, etc.)
  • Ensure prior authorizations/certifications/referrals are in place PRIOR to procedure
  • Responsible for collaborating all preoperative studies such as labs, diagnostic studies, physician consults, and clearances for upcoming surgeries and procedures.
  • Based on surgeon instruction, determine personnel/equipment required and coordinate with OR / ASC staff.
  • Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization.
  • The Surgery Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery.
