Electrical & Instrumentation Technician/Electrical Safety Professional/Contact
Provides the technical expertise on all matters of maintenance excellence of all process control, electrical, HVAC & instrumentation equipment. Recommends needed improvements to operations and maintenance leadership in areas of equipment maintenance including philosophies, strategies and best maintenance practices. This position focuses on sustaining or returning to current performing standards and works with the maintenance manager to lead longer term improvement for electrical and instrumentation equipment and enhancing maintenance team competency in the areas of electrical, electrical diagnostics.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the maintenance manager and plant engineer to enhance equipment reliability and develop equipment repair procedures
- Work with current maintenance technicians to strengthen skills in the areas of electrical.
- Provide technical input to the maintenance manager, plant engineer and operations team in the areas of improved reliability, procedures and safety
- Support capital projects by participating and reviewing equipment selection and layout to optimize "maintainability" and meet reliability goals. Promote consistency by input on standardizing equipment, providing technical expertise for installation, check out, maintenance procedures and start-up of all new or modified critical equipment
- Participate in PSM activities as defined by site manuals and practices
- Participate in continuing education and industry conferences to improve competencies and keep current and evaluate new technologies for their applicability
- Serve as a member of the site reliability improvement team, actively promote and work to install a "reliability culture"
- Continually promote consistency by standardizing procedures, equipment, operations within area of responsibility
- Participate as a member of mechanical shutdown team providing input into needed equipment test & inspection procedures
- Participate in continuing education courses and training pertaining to maintenance and reliability to keep current on and evaluate new emerging technologies for their applicability
- Reading and understanding manuals, schematics and P&ID's
- Electrical troubleshooting, repair, installation and documentation of maintenance calibrations, installations, fault diagnostics repair of electronics
- Testing and troubleshooting of AC/DC motor controls and drives & HVAC systems
- Measure, fabricate and install conduit, piping, and tubing, and perform electrical wiring, including protection devices, grounding circuits and monitor equipment performance/failures
- Willing to work overtime in situations of emergency, installation and plant shutdowns to support plant operations

Electrical Safety Professional Responsibilities:
- Understanding the hazards associated with electrical energy and the association of electrical safety with process safety, fire safety, and asset productivity
- Having experience in one or more areas of design, maintenance, operation, construction of electrical power distribution systems and knowledge of local electrical safety regulations
- Having the ability to develop engineering solutions to eliminate, reduce, and guard against personnel exposure to electrical hazards
- Being an electrician, electrical technician, or electrical engineer with knowledge of electrical power systems
- The site ESP shall have a documented personal development and continuing education plan for improving his or her expertise in electrical safety and safety management.
- Assisting the site to meet all electrical safety requirements based on regulations and corporate policies while providing for site electrical safety
- Creating, analyzing, and sharing site electrical safety metrics with site leadership
- Assisting in site projects to help ensure that electrical systems are installed in accordance with local regulations and project requirements while applying engineering solutions to minimize hazards

- Participating in site first- and second-party electrical safety audits, electrical incident and potential near miss investigations and regional electrical safety team appropriate for the site
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of relevant industry experience in the field
- Prior plant maintenance experience
- Advance training and relevant skills
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Ability to plan, prioritize and implement multiple concurrent projects/tasks
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with ability to influence managers, peers, and mechanics; able to take a "hands on" approach with operators and mechanics to get things done
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact with and promote the capabilities of a diverse workforce
- Proven strong contributor with the ability to work independently
- Instrumentation and process controls equipment and related troubleshooting and maintenance techniques
- Power and electrical distribution circuits
- Predictive techniques for electrical equipment such as: thermography and off and on-line motor testing
- Industry and corporate engineering codes and their responsibilities
- Journeyman Electrical License
- Degree in Automation Preferred
