SUMMARY

The Metallurgical Lab Supervisor will utilize advanced knowledge in metallography / materials testing to direct the activities of lab personnel effectively to support internal Chromalloy testing and certification needs for incoming materials and products. Products primarily include Nickel and Cobalt-based superalloy castings and remelt stock. Also provide direct support to customers as applicable and will be responsible for the maintenance of 17025 and Nadcap certification for the lab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Manage and develop a team of direct reports while creating a knowledge sharing culture
  • Coordinate and support daily activities including lab samples, material inspection and release, and alloy master heat certifications and releases
  • Ensure that procedures are in place to support our objectives and assure first-class customer response and departmental efficiency
  • Ensure that product and applications knowledge is communicated within the organization
  • Provide input for new products introduction, coordinate testing of new products internally and externally, and participate in launch activities
  • Continuous focus on how to develop the business to meet customer requirements and expectations
  • Actively contribute in the development of best practices and new applications services within the organization
  • Actively support Sales efforts by providing internal and external customer support



QUALIFICATIONS




  • BS in Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • +5 Years' experience in metallographic / materials testing laboratory required.
  • Proven leadership skills required
  • Must be organized with the ability to focus on priority projects and tasks
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Sales-focused demonstration and technical presentation skills required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Excellent PC/Computer Skills; Proficiency in MS Office software suite

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderate.
