Overview
Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Scientist I in the Department of Radiology & Bioengineering to work with imaging and post-processing of research images. This position will involve developing and conducting research projects in imaging research in the Biomedical Research Imaging Core (BRIC) as well as with the MAGNUS advanced gradient, 3T head only system. The Scientist I would be focusing on primarily on brain imaging from preclinical and human research MRI scanners. It is also desired that this position also have experience with preclinical positron emission tomography (PET), single photon emission tomography (SPECT), optical imaging and computed tomography (CT).
The Scientist I will be investigating a wide variety of scientific areas, mainly related to military relevant topics such as traumatic brain injury, traumatic stress and following therapeutics. The Scientist I will work with a variety of small to medium sized animals and will follow all applicable animal research laws and regulations, plus work with images from our MAGNUS MRI. Dr. Hood is the Director of the Biomedical Research Imaging Core (BRIC), a preclinical imaging laboratory of the Department of Radiology that supports small animal research for USU. The BRIC has a 7T preclinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), PET/SPECT/CT, optical CT, in vivo and ex vivo micro CT systems, ultrasound and laser speckle imaging. The BRIC also has numerous workstations for advanced post-processing and analysis of image data. Dr. Hood also works on the MAGNUS 3T MRI system for advanced brain imaging. Note: This work site requires that non-US Citizen incumbents have lived in the US three out of the past five years. The Henry M.
