Job Description:

V2X is seeking a Principal Engineer /Test and CAD Engineering Lead to join our Test and Training Team in support of the Integrated Base Defense - Sustainment Support (IBD-SS) contract with operations located at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter who will lead systems test, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, and training while working closely with military customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all Engineering Change Proposals for several diverse Technical Data Packages. The ideal candidate will have commanding knowledge and experience with Solidworks and 3D modeling.

Candidates should be able to operate at scale, in an ambiguous environment, and adapt to the customer's dynamic requirements. The role will work collaboratively with cross-functional team members to deliver Engineering Change Proposals and develop engineering process workflows. The selected applicant will be leading a small team of engineers in all sustainment engineering efforts for the contract. The position interfaces with cross-functional teams within engineering, testing, production, logistics, maintenance, and sustainment.

Primary Duties:



  • Draw on extensive experience to develop Solidworks workflows and processes for maintaining multiple engineering drawing packages for all assigned systems
  • Assist in testing processes, system analysis, design analysis, and development
  • Assist Test Engineering Team with establishing test criteria
  • Works to identify improvements within Designer/Drafting Team related to software, model creation, drawings standards, drawing checking, development of needed guidelines, and other improvement-oriented tasks
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and coach engineering staff with a focus on development & learning
  • Proven leadership experience in engineering assignments and proven results in leading and executing on programs
  • Experience with Solidworks modeling and drafting with knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Have a good understanding of engineering processes with a continuous process improvement mindset
  • Responsible for all engineering BOM Development and maintenance.
  • Review and approve associated 2D drafting drawings required to produce/procure hardware
  • Ability to collaboratively work with engineering, production and logistics teams, as well as external suppliers and OEMs to achieve the customers' requirements.
  • Analyze Engineering Change Requests of product baselines to determine the effect on the end product and update documentation as necessary.
  • Work in a product sustainment environment on existing designs
  • Participate in Configuration Control and Engineering Review boards
  • Monitors the approval status of drawings and keep Systems Engineering Manager informed of status
  • Perform technical writing to update CI documentation and technical manuals or training material


Required Qualifications/Skills:



  • Demonstrated experience in engineering disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, electronics, systems engineering, etc
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with high level of autonomy
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Atlassian Jira software
  • Mechanical design and/or integration knowledge
  • Have an exceptional attention to detail
  • Process development
  • Change Management
  • PLM/PDM Tool experience
  • Project Management Experience
  • Excellent decision making and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Secret clearance not required but must be obtained within six months of hire


Desired Qualifications/Skills:



  • Relevant and recent experience supporting DoD Force Protection systems including mobile communications and modular expeditionary systems
  • Experience with RAID sensor systems to include Aerostats
  • Experience with Quick Reaction Capability systems portfolio, to include FPS, RDISS, IBD-K, PSSG, BETSS-C, Perimeter Security and ground sensors or equivalent systems
  • Technical Experience with FLIR and Rapiscan product lines
  • Experience utilizing COLTS (or similar such as RCLS) and operating within the GCSS-A environment
  • Import/Export (ITAR/EXIM) compliance experience
  • Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high-quality environment
  • Existing secret clearance


Education Requirements:



  • BA/BS with 8 -12 years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of the degree (15 total years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree)
