Position Profile
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking an aviation civil engineer to take on a critical role in aviation and civil site design projects. This position focuses on delivering high-quality technical designs and innovative solutions while collaborating with various teams.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed engineering calculations and utilize advanced computer software for analysis and design, ensuring technical accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop comprehensive design plans and specifications for aviation projects, incorporating industry standards and best practices.
  • Perform site investigations and field reconnaissance to gather existing physical data and inform design decisions.
  • Manage the preparation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with senior technical staff and provide mentorship to junior designers, sharing expertise and fostering technical growth.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations to enhance design processes and outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field is required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or the ability to obtain one in 6 months is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering project experience is required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and Civil3D, with a strong ability to create detailed and accurate design documents.
  • Experience with design software and tools relevant to aviation infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circulars and the application of the associated criteria.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to develop and present technical concepts effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, external clients and construction contractors.
  • A proactive approach to tasks, demonstrating attention to detail and a commitment to meeting project deadlines.
  • A desire to routinely address a broad range of technical challenges and the ability to accommodate and respond to rapidly changing project and client dynamics.

Working at Hanson:

  • Ability to collaborate remotely with colleagues across multiple offices.
  • Willingness to travel for out-of-town assignments and work overtime as necessary to meet project demands.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
