Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
The Senior Director of Economic Development at the University will be responsible for fostering the University's engagement in economic development initiatives with external partners such as the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (
EDPNC), City of Greensboro, Guilford County, Chamber of Commerce, and the Piedmont Triad Partnership. This role will involve collaborating closely with research staff, industry professionals, and community members to analyze market trends and establish partnerships that can benefit the university, partners, and the regional and national economy.
Key responsibilities include developing and leading initiatives and programs to enhance interactions with industry and community members for mutual benefit, coordinating campus activities related to economic development, serving as a liaison with local, regional, and national economic development organizations, supporting the recruitment of new businesses and the growth of existing businesses in collaboration with economic development entities and government agencies, and facilitating faculty and staff in creating opportunities for industry collaborations.
Overall, the Director will play a vital role in advancing the University's economic development efforts and strengthening its relationships with various stakeholders to drive economic growth and innovation. |
Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Economic Development unit at the university serves as a vital link between North Carolina A&T State University and external economic development partners. Collaborating with research staff, industry professionals, and community members, the unit analyzes market trends, establishes collaborations, and drives initiatives benefiting the university, partners, and the regional economy. By actively engaging with corporations and external partners, the unit supports economic development efforts, attracts companies, and fosters university-industry collaborations. Through targeted outreach and internal exploration, the unit identifies and seizes partnership opportunities initiated by faculty members, demonstrating the value of these collaborations to N.C. A&T's interests and advancing the university's economic development agenda while fulfilling its mission of public service, community engagement, and global outreach. |
