Position Summary
The Financial Programs Team Lead position is to be one of multiple supervisor positions within Lineberger's Business Office that will oversee up to five employees while providing financial management of their own grant portfolio. The competency level of this position is due to the complexity of the Cancer Center as it compares to other units in the School and across campus. This position provides financial services for R grants, K Series, and Fellowships as well as a large number of complex grant mechanisms such as P-Grants, U-Grants, and T-grants. The position will have responsibility for the activity of up to four accounting technicians. The position will have the authority to oversee day-to-day activity of the assigned accounting staff independently with consultation of the Associate Director, Finance Administration and Senior Financial Manager as necessary. The Financial Programs Team Lead will have responsibilities in six primary functions: budget administration and monitoring, budget development, reporting and auditing, database management/computerization, personnel/supervision, and special projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Mid-career with Masters and 1-2 yrs experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 yrs experience
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write precisely and clearly. Proven analytical and reasoning abilities, experience in evaluating complex requirements and regulations. Thorough knowledge of and skill in applying generally accepted accounting principles. Directly related experience with computerized financial reporting and analysis systems.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
It is preferred for candidates to have:
Extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures regulating the administration of sponsored projects.
Experience building and managing teams including hiring, training, prioritizing, organizing and scheduling work assignments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Access.
Experience with PeopleSoft
