Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Assistant for the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Travels to participant homes to assist with data collection, including biological sample collection (e.g., urine and saliva samples per study protocol).
  • Participates in recruitment, screening, and scheduling of participants for study visits.
  • Monitors participants completion of study daily collection and follow-up surveys.
  • Administers semi-structured interviews to (1) assess mental health conditions and (2) obtain feedback from participants on how to improve study methods.
  • Cleans and codes data.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a graduate student (e.g., masters, PhD program), preferably in social sciences (e.g., Psychology, Public Health).
  • Previous experience with research (e.g., recruitment) and familiarity with Qualtrics and/or mobile data collection.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective communication and strong writing skills.
  • Complete required training for Human Subjects Study (e.g., CITI certification).

Equipment Utilized

  • Ability to operate a computerized tablet (e.g., iPad) to screen individuals for eligibility.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must have a car/or daily access to a car and valid driver's license to conduct study recruitment at dispensary sites, and travel to participant's residence to assist with data collection.
  • Availability on some evenings and weekends.
