These investments are made through the private investing arm of First Bancshares, 119th Street Capital. As a member of the 119th Street Capital team, you will have the opportunity to work on investment initiatives focused on strategically growing First Bancshares and generating investment return. As a finance expert, you will play a key role in evaluating the financial viability of business acquisitions, majority and minority equity investments, and strategic partnerships. You will also engage in industry research and all components of the deal execution process.

Job Summary: Identify, diligence, execute, and monitor strategic financial services investments on behalf of First Bancshares.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build financial models, in collaboration with the team, to estimate the value of potential acquisitions, minority and majority equity investments, and strategic partnerships.

  • Coach and develop junior talent to strong proficiency in financial modeling, deal evaluation systems, comparable research, and other technical duties.

  • Develop, in collaboration with your team, comparable company and precedent transaction analyses to estimate the value of potential acquisitions, minority and majority equity investments, and strategic partnerships.

  • Perform detailed review of technical work prepared by others such as financial forecasts, DCF models, presentations to management, and industry research.

  • Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing presentations summarizing results of financial analyses and research findings.

  • Participate in all stages of deal execution, including preliminary diligence, management meetings, investment committee presentation, in-depth operational diligence, valuation analysis, third-party diligence coordination, and formal offer preparation.

  • Analyze optimal and competitive transaction structures considering various factors other than pure financial analysis.

  • Propose strategic investment target lists informed by investment theses of high interest.

  • Maintain systems used for sourcing and tracking investment opportunities.

  • Take an active role in investment strategy by identifying investment theses, supported by your research, for presentation to senior management for review.

  • Directly source transactions through participating in and/or leading conversations with entrepreneurs, shareholders, investment banks, and other transaction sources.

  • Responsible for serving on task forces or special projects between portfolio companies.

  • Prepare portfolio company reports and manage systematic monitoring to track investment performance and identify risks.

  • Responsible for aiding portfolio companies with evaluation and execution of add-on investment opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.

  • Ability to convey and pursue best interests of First Bancshares in a professional, tactful, and concise manner.

  • Robust communication and negotiation skills with all internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to self-motivate while effectively managing numerous projects and priorities.

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills including use of advanced functions, data management, advanced charting, and ability to create highly professional presentations.

  • Existing knowledge of, or desire to learn, tools and software used for sourcing, evaluation, and execution of transactions.

  • High degree of proficiency in financial analysis.

  • Ability to, periodically, work effectively under pressure with tight deadlines.

  • Strong understanding of financial services firms and financial institutions is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance

  • 2+ years of finance work experience in fields such as financial planning & analysis, credit analysis, investment banking, corporate development, or private equity
