Moog is looking for an Engineering Section Head to manage a team of Deployment Engineers and Technicians on our Test Systems team. Our deployment team works cross-functionally with various group, such as the design team, supply chain, and quality group, to build, integrate, and validate Moog's complex hydro-electrical Test Systems. You will provide technical mentoring and training to develop your team's competency, skills, and efficiency. Your team will include 6-10 engineers and technicians. You will also be an individual contributor to assigned projects at 50% or higher capacity as a Deployment Engineer. Reporting to an Engineering Manager, you will have a 9/80 work schedule with a hybrid work option (3 days/week in the office) in Torrance, CA.

As an Engineering Section Head, you will:

  • Manage a team of engineers and technicians
  • Work individually with each employee to develop their skills and efficiency
  • Develop your team's skill and efficiency to meet TE global standards
  • Determine personnel assignments in collaboration with the site's Manager
  • Work as direct charging individual contributor
  • Be accountable for your team's work products' quality and process adherence
  • Lead Deployment technical and decision-making discussions as appropriate
  • Oversee procuring, storing, and tracking hardware that matches the final design of test hardware
  • Manage hardware build, integration, troubleshooting, deployment, and hand off to the sustainment team
  • Creation of calibration, user manual, and training documents as well as performing the training

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace is desirable)
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in a broad application of Deployment Engineering skills such as procurement; requirements development and allocation; system architecture development; system performance modeling based on characteristic equations; control system design and tuning for closed loop control systems; system integration, verification and validation.
  • Experience with the development of a variety of engineering drawings, schematics, and technical reports.

It'd be great if you also had:

  • Experience developing Test Systems or Test Equipment
  • Team leadership experience
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Working familiarity with the following tools:
    - DOORS requirements management system
    - Teamcenter PLM
    - Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $125,000.00-$160,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
