Supervisor Food Farmacy/Pantry

Summary:

The Food Farmacy/Pantry Supervisor is responsible for the food security strategy and overall operations of the Hospital's food pantries, ensuring efficient, compassionate, and effective service delivery. The supervisor will manage staff, coordinate with healthcare providers and other staff, and implement programs to address food insecurity.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides oversight for food pantry administration and performs supervisory responsibilities for direct reports, including the Food Pantry Coordinators and volunteers.
  2. Responsible for the implementation of Akron Children's food security strategy and operations of two food pantries, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.
  3. Collaborates with Grants Administration and the Foundation to pursue and manage funding opportunities that support the Hospital's food security strategy.
  4. Responsible for financial and grant management, and reporting.
  5. Builds and strengthens partnerships with local foodbanks, health organizations, community groups and others that support Akron Children's food pantries and food security strategy.
  6. Identifies and shares relevant data and research findings to identify trends and emerging issues affecting vulnerable populations to inform the food security strategy.
  7. Recognizes and raises awareness about the significant role that cultural and ethnic backgrounds play in food security.
  8. Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to oversee internal and external marketing and social media campaigns designed to increase awareness about food security.
  9. Maintain quality standards for food distributed, conduct regular inspections, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  10. Responsible for data management, specifically, to collect and analyze data to track pantry usage, client demographics, and program outcomes. Works with direct reports to prepare and submit regular reports to management and funders.
  11. Develop and update policies and standard operating procedures to enhance pantry operations and ensure all policies are communicated and adhered to by staff and volunteers.
  12. Establish mechanisms for receiving and addressing client feedback and using feedback to improve services.
  13. Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

  1. Experience in public health or community health, and food pantry operations with demonstrated leadership skills is preferred.
  2. Travel and valid Ohio driver's license is required.
  3. Experience with cultural, social, and economic differences in populations.
  4. Familiarity with data collection and program evaluation.
  5. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
  6. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  7. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
  8. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.] or similar software is required.

Education and Experience

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in public health, community health education, or related field is required.
  2. Certification: ServSafe Manager certification or willingness to study and achieve certification (certification expenses will be covered) provided.
  3. Years of relevant experience: 5-7 years preferred.
  4. Years of experience supervising: 3-5 years preferred.
