Provides strategic direction and management of Advocate Health Enterprise Technology business, which includes cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, SAAS), cloud workloads, Data Center management, networks (data), infrastructure management, and information engineering. Provides the foundation of which all solutions are built on and offers a comprehensive set of services including, requirements definition, design, vendor product selection and integration, Level IV support, strategic planning, roadmap definition, process documentation and training materials.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and evolves a strategic plan responsive to the changing competitive, technological customer and industry environments for the technology engineering business within the context of a broader IT strategy and Advocate Health's overall business strategy. Establishes a vision of global cloud infrastructure architecture that guides the design of all current and future projects.
  • Provides the leadership and strategy for Advocate Health's overall cloud strategy. Must be knowledgeable and have practical experience in maintaining and managing cloud-based footprints like AWS, and Azure. Must be experienced in maturing the use of cloud components and environments while integrating them into the core Advocate environment.
  • Manages the Enterprise Technology Data Center and cloud related business within Advocate Health offering an innovative product portfolio and provides day-to-day operational leadership of business outcomes that anticipate future technical opportunities, demands and requirements. Ensures professional excellence in computer science, project management and delivery, and customer relations by managing costs and offering the best value.
  • Designs and implements an Enterprise Technology organization that supports applications engineering and Health and Information Technology operations by sharing knowledge and expertise of impacted area. Ensures adequate supply and appropriate resource planning to meet all funded demand for Advocate Health IT and Advocate Health's business technology engineering needs.
  • Enhances the health of the technology engineering business and maximize ROI by managing all organizational assets and identifying and acquiring proper capital and expense investments. Ensures projects are reliable, on-time and on-budget.
  • Maintains awareness of existing and emerging technology, industry trends and regulatory requirements and their applicability to Enterprise Platforms Systems. Ensures policies and processes are appropriately employed to comply with Advocate Health and external agency requirements.
  • Oversees market share growth within Advocate Health through marketing and brand awareness of the potential of the technology engineering product line by effectively developing, managing, and executing strategies and tactical programs. Provides counsel to executive management on future direction of IT applications, as well as contribute to the strategic plans and business decisions of IT and Advocate Health
  • Establishes, fosters, and strengthens customer and supplier relationships. Provides counsel on vendor product selection. Contracts with and manages suppliers. Aids clients in defining requirements in alignment with their business strategies. Develops realistic proposals including alternatives, costs, timeframes, business implications, risk and risk mitigation.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Level of Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field

Years of Experience: 10 years implementing large and complex cloud environments, large scale data center management, enterprise platforms, enterprise project management, and service-oriented design and architecture. Including 5 years of management-level experience.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Broad and advanced understanding of information technology and processes in a large, complex, mission critical environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively with all levels.
  • Strategic thinker able to understand the business direction and goals and their potential implications in terms of the information systems and infrastructure required.
  • Tenacity and attention to detail in developing the associated functional requirements, risk assessments, cost estimates and plans, and tracking the delivery of approved projects. Highly motivated self-starter capable of identifying and addressing key opportunities and issues.
  • An effective team player, capable of playing both leadership and supportive roles.
  • Ability to recognizes that the enterprise technology portfolio is a compromise of business needs, together with an assessment of both business and technical risks vs both the short-term and long-term funding available and the skills and capabilities of the information systems organization.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to use logic and reasoning and understanding of implications as it relates to problem solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to conceptualize and think creatively and build consensus among individuals.

  • This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
