Responsible for assessing, designing, developing and evaluating Nursing and Clinical programs, training programs, development programs, and assigned special training projects, etc. Ensures competency and education of all clinical areas of the organization. Provides internal consultation to management and work groups related to clinical education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 2. Current West Virginia Nursing License, license eligible or ability to obtain licensure within 60 days of hire. 3. Must obtain American Heart Association Instructor Status (BLS, ACLS, and PALS) within one (1) year of hire. EXPERIENCE: 1. Five (5) years nursing experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Master's Degree in Nursing or Related field is preferred. 2. Certification in Nursing Professional development or specialty is preferred. EXPERIENCE: 1. One (1) year of experience with teaching/learning methodologies is preferred. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Develops, coordinates and evaluates on-boarding and orientation for clinical staff. 2. Identifies orientation requirements for clinical staff. 3. Competency Management: Manages and evaluates the competency assessment process for clinical staff with the management team in assigned areas. 4. Role Development: Assists others in professional role development. 5. Executes special projects as requested by the CED Leadership Team. 6. Research/Evidence-Based Practice/Quality: Acts as a champion of scientific inquiry, generating new knowledge and integrating best available evidence into practice and educational activities. 7. Promotes research, EBP, and QI in educational settings. 8. Collaborative Partnerships: Teaches, coordinates, serves as liaisons, and/or advises nurses and other learners concerning education and learning. 9. Supports collegial partnerships including academic/practice partnerships contributing to the professional development and lifelong learning of peers, colleagues, students and others. 10. Collaborates with interprofessional teams, chief nursing officers, directors, managers, stakeholders and others to facilitate nursing practice and positive outcomes for consumers. 11. Attends /participates in committees as assigned. 12. Education: Conducts systematic and ongoing learning needs assessments of individuals and/or groups within assigned units and organization-wide (as appropriate) using a variety of techniques and sources. Disseminates finding with management team and CED department. 13. Recommends educational strategies to ensure compliance with requirements and standards of external regulatory and accrediting organizations based upon assessment data. 14. Identifies expected educational outcomes and plans, prepares and maintains materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience while facilitating adult learning principles. 15. Develops educational programs for clinical staff at all stages of their career development that are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals. 16. Serves as a nurse planner in continuing education activities. 17. Maintains AHA instructor status and participates in AHA training. 18. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning, delivering, and managing clinical professional development activities. Computer proficiency for communication and development of education programs and materials. 2. Proficient in the Standards of National Professional Development practice (NPD), including onboarding/orientation, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships, and Research/Evidenced based Practice and Quality Improvement. 3. Acts in the following Nursing Professional development roles, Learning facilitator, Change agent, Mentor, Leader, Champion for scientific Inquiry, Advocate for the NPD specialty, and Partner for Practice Transitions.
