U.S. Energy POSITION SUMMARYThe Staff Accounting Analyst is responsible for various accounting and analytical tasks. This position will be responsible for completing numerous location level inventory reconciliations, various month- end close activities, and ensuring GAAP compliance. These responsibilities will require proficient knowledge in Excel and data manipulation, strong operational troubleshooting skills, an understanding of several internally developed software systems, as well as an ability to understand and enhance processes and procedures. Inventory is a key asset and driver of our business model, therefore having accurately stated inventory levels directly impacts key decisions made by the organization. The Staff Accounting Analyst is an integral part of the Inventory team that ensures the balances are properly recorded.

This position can work hybrid with a mix of on-site and remote work from either Appleton, WI or Houston, TX. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for ensuring operational and financial systems reconcile at a detailed level for inventory positions
  • Analyze financial reports and records, making recommendations relative to treatment of inventory transactions
  • Work with the inventory team, cross functional teams, and IT to identify process and system improvements, factoring in the strategic plan of the Division and new business development
  • Responsible for month end close including multiple, higher risk general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with audit requirements and take ownership for respective areas
  • Understands internal controls for assigned area and assists with execution of controls
  • Perform ad hoc projects as requested by the business

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors degree in accounting/finance. For internal U.S. Venture team members, equivalent relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Knows fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of accounting
  • Effective team player able to collaborate cross functionally
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate detailed information in a clear, easy to understand manner
  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Display strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other financial software systems
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations
  • Demonstrates process improvement mindset
