Responsibilities
Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI) is seeking an highly experienced Configuration Management Lead to provide Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) support to the United States Space Force (USSF) Operational Command and Control (C2) Acquisition Delta responsible for developing software and the supporting architecture for the organize, understand, plan, decide, direct, and monitor capabilities within the C2 Joint Capability Areas (JCAs). A successful candidate should be a self-starter who possesses initiative, excellent communication skills, the ability to lead and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and a proven problem solver. Job responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
- Overseeing management of configuration items, including documentation, change control board, and lifecycle management
- Preparing and ensuring complete Configuration Management (CM) documentation is maintained
- Scheduling and coordinating Change Control Boards, and documents and implementing outcomes / changes / Engineering Change Proposals (ECP)s, which must keep pace with a high-speed Agile/DevSecOps environment
- Leading a configuration management team that is integrated with multi-functional SAFe / DevSecOps and Fielding teams
- Automating CM to the maximum extent possible, using approved tools; working with Quality to ensure effectiveness and adherence of CM policies and automated processes
- Developing and implementing the CM plan, ensuring it is compliant with Space Systems Command (SSC) policy and NIST 800-53 CM controls
- Delivering Software Source Code and Released Artifacts
- Coordinating CM with Program Management, Risk, Quality, and Task Lead personnel (Development, Test, Fielding/Sustainment, Cloud Services) and policies
- Gather, track, and report key performance indicators and metrics to the leadership team
- Provide guidance and influence Program Leadership in the execution of all phases of CM and Data Management (CMDM) principles (Planning, Identification, Change Control, Status Accounting, Verification/Audits, Data Mgmt., etc.).
- Reviewing, updating, and maintaining process documentation, auditing, and evaluating compliance with established processes, sharing best practices among program practitioners
Qualifications
Required Experience:
- 15 years of relevant DoD/IC or relevant industry work experience
- 6 years of related of CMDM experience
- Experience executing the five functions of Configuration Management (Configuration Management Planning and Management, Configuration Identification, Configuration Change Management, Configuration Status Accounting, and Configuration Verification and Audit)
- Experience in the following applications frameworks:
- Microsoft Office products to include SharePoint, Word, Excel
- Confluence; Jira; Gitlab; Puppet; Terraform; Ansible
- Ability to ensure CM in on-prem, hybrid, and Cloud environments
- Creating and updating configuration items and technical documentation
- Creating and updating workflows; automating them to maximum extent possible
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
- Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and works well in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, specifically attention to detail along with effective time and project management skills
- Experience with presenting and communicating technical data to various audiences (government and leadership audience experience preferred)
- Willingness to mentor colleagues and lead brown bag sessions
Desired Experience:
- Experience working with DoD or IC acquisition organizations
- Experience working on a Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) or Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) contract
- Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in SSC
- Experience with DoD and USSF Defensive Cyber Operations
- At least 2 years' of Special Access Programs (SAP) and/or TS/SCI experience
Education /Certification Requirements:
- M.S. degree in related field (desired)
Security Clearance Level Required:
- Top Secret (Must be a U.S. Citizen)
Location/Travel Requirements:
- Place of work is El Segundo, CA area, remote work opportunity is limited

The pay range for this position in California is $150,000/year to $185,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
