Job Summary

Job Description/Primary Duties:
IFF's Process R&D Team (located in Wilmington, Delaware) has an exciting opening for an Associate Engineer. We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team. Responsibilities will include contributing to the development and commercialization of powder and granule formulations of bio-based products using solid handling, particle characterization, moisture control, drying, and milling techniques. This position involves hands-on work in a laboratory focused on powder processing, drying, milling, and related analytical measurements and physical property testing.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in preparing and analyzing powdered and granulated formulations.
  • Strong experience and mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining laboratory and pilot-scale solids process equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to independently plan and execute laboratory work.
  • Comfort in interpreting and discussing data in both formal and informal settings, including the reporting and documentation of technical progress and conclusions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivation with good organizational skills, attention to detail, and troubleshooting ability.
  • Versatility in participating in teams and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A thirst for continuous learning and development in the workplace.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time within a year.

Requirements (experience, education, and skills):

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant fields, or an Associate's degree with more than 3 years of work experience in relevant fields.
  • Fields of education/interest include Food Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bio-process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering.
  • Excellent safety awareness and commitment.
  • Basic knowledge of experimental design, statistics, and analytical principles.
  • Basic or advanced capability with essential workplace IT tools (MS-Office, logistics, and procurement software).
