Director, Security & Public Safety
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising all operations of Security Operations, Safety Operations, Emergency Management and Preparedness Operations, Parking and Transportation Services for the Valley Health System. Serves as the liaison with external partners and internal partners, such as Police / Fire Departments, FEMA, County Executives, Non-Governmental Agencies (NGO), and The Valley Health System Executive Leadership Team. Responsible for coordinating services, policies, and protocols with human resources, legal services, and risk management as necessary. This position will interact with Executive Staff, Directors and Managers, Physicians and Employees.
EDUCATION:
Baccalaureate degree in security management, business management, or related field required. A master's degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of ten (10) years' of progressive public safety experience required. Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience required. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a hospital setting preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of Joint Commission standards preferred. Board certification in security such as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) is preferred. Board certification in health care safety is preferred, such as Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP). Board certification in health care emergency management operations is preferred such as Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP). Involvement in relevant professional organizations such as the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), International Association for Hospital Security and Safety (IAHSS), and International Security Management Association (ISMA) will be expected. Ability to lead change and achieve support for change; builds consensus. 8. Strong customer service focus for patients and employees. 9. A team player who can build collaborative relationships across the organizational structure to include external and internal stakeholders (EX: Police, Fire, County, Staff, Regulatory Agencies, Etc.). 13. High tolerance for complex, ambiguous and changing environment. 14. Role models the organization's Leadership Standards.
