The CVI Quality Management Director assures that the Clinical Effectiveness corporate functions are carried out on a local level in such a manner as to appropriately support systemness and standardization. The Senior Director serves as a member of the hospital's senior administrative team, participating in the establishment of hospital- and organization-wide goals and objectives, and development of strategic plans for achieving those goals and objectives. The Senior Director leads &/or participates on organization-wide interdisciplinary teams and committees.
- Oversees and directs, with management of respective services, the operations of the hospital's Quality Management, Utilization Review, Safety, Risk Management, Medical Staff Services, Social Work Services, Infection Control, Employee Health, Chaplaincy and Volunteer Services departments. Together with local Clinical Effectiveness management team, is responsible for conducting recruitment, hiring, orientation, coaching and disciplinary action in accordance with Carilion Clinic policies.
- Assumes fiscal responsibility for department, including budget development, monitoring, and implementation of cost-containment measures as indicated and appropriate.
- Collaborates with Carilion Clinic services (home health, private duty and hospice) in planning for and providing those services as they relate to hospital and the service area. Assures good communication and coordination of those services with other services in the hospital service area.
- Champions and leads hospital-based Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance and Risk Management initiatives with employees, board members, administrators and medical staff members. Ensures that data collection and reporting supports hospital and organization-wide quality monitoring efforts.
- Works collaboratively with organization-wide and hospital services to ensure hospital's continuous compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations and that hospital achieves and maintains accreditation/certification under JCAHO, CARF, ASCP and other applicable accrediting agency standards.
- Serves as a member of the hospital's administrative team, including taking administrative call, attending board meetings and/or medical staff meetings, and serving as a role model for demonstration of Carilion's leadership principles.
- Facilitates the professional growth and leadership development of managers and employees within areas of responsibility. Identifies and promotes opportunities for staff development.
What We Require:
Education: Minimum 3 years management/leadership experience in hospital or health services setting, demonstrating increased and/or diversified responsibility for related services.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must satisfactorily complete orientation processes for Carilion Clinic and for Director, Clinical Effectiveness position. Must display positive leadership skills, interpersonal & oral communication skills, and written communication skills. Must work well with all members of the hospital team, including employees, managers, administrators and physicians. Must understand dynamics of, and be able to work effectively within a matrix management environment. Must possess analytic business skills, integrity as a team player; be courteous; have ability to resolve complaints/problems; and display a customer-focused philosophy of service. Must demonstrate skills in operational and human resources management.
