What you'll be doing...

This opportunity is for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or are participants of the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2025

This Software Development Engineer role within the VGS VCG Technology organization is responsible for enhancing and supporting contact center applications impacting Verizon's sales & service experience. They will be part of an Agile product development team, collaborating closely with business partners, to design and develop the next generation of contact center systems powered by AI. Projects will be delivered in an Agile model with development and unit testing stories due in 3 week sprint increments. Individuals in this role should have a creative and innovative mindset and be able to effectively communicate new ideas to the team. Lastly, they would be expected to develop an understanding of the interconnectivity between enterprise applications to develop well performing solutions at Verizon scale.

  • Develop dynamic, responsive web applications using HTML, CSS and Java script frameworks (React)

  • Deliver full software development life cycle (SDLC) project based work - concept, design, build, deploy, test, release and support.

  • Analyzes requirements and determines the design of the software systems and services that best meets the needs of the business.

  • Develop the initial design and testing framework to ensure the software meets the requirements of the business and functions accordingly.

  • Provide updates to the business and internal teams on project status, proposals, or technical issues.

  • Collaborate with the design and technical teams to create user interfaces by ensuring the technical feasibility.

  • Gain understanding of the existing system architecture and flow.

  • Leverage and grow one's own domain knowledge and adapt to an Agile environment.

  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use in front-end and back-end technologies including unit tests

  • Constantly look into new technology and process improvement to keep up with the dynamic pace for the development team. Look into reusability to increase speed of delivery for projects.

  • Partner with the system test & UAT teams to address the identified defects in a timely manner.

You'll need to have:

  • Must be a current participant of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or of the Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program.

  • Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work and/or military experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Experience with HTML, CSS and Java script frameworks (React)

  • Ability to collaborate within and between various IT and business teams.

  • Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills

  • Self-motivation, a strong passion for technology, and an adaptable mindset

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
