OPERATIONS ENGINEER (SPACEX LOGISTICS)

The SpaceX Logistics team is seeking a dynamic, high-energy individual to enhance business network visibility and drive continuous improvement initiatives across cross-functional systems. In this role, you will support strategic process development by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify, design, and implement scalable logistics processes and systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Identify operational challenges within the organization, lead problem formulation, determine root cause, and develop creative and effective solutions
  • Develop, standardize and continuously improve logistics key process indicators and internal, customer-facing metrics
  • Develop strategies and lead cross-functional teams to enable scaling business models
  • Identify, monitor, and communicate trends to broader logistics, supply chain, and financial stakeholders
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and software solutions that can optimize logistics operations
  • This may involve implementing carrier integration API/ EDI and or integrating software TMS / WMS to optimize visibility, booking and traceability of product flow
  • Lead the implementation of new processes and technologies, ensuring that all team members are properly trained. Monitor performance of systems and continuous process improvements
  • Collaborate with ASW, Logistics, Finance, and relevant stakeholders to refine routing paradigms and performance criteria, including standardization of KPI dashboards
  • Plan and implement logistics and supply chain optimization and continuous improvement projects
  • Work with broader application software teams to support logistics and supply chain tool development
  • Manage projects and execute to tight timelines while effectively communicating to and influencing stakeholders
  • Create reports and maintain regular reporting cadence with logistics team and network providers
  • Identify potential risks associated with the logistics operations and develop mitigation strategies, including assessing supply chain vulnerabilities and developing contingency plans


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or mathematics/physics
  • 2+ years of professional experience in manufacturing or industrial project management, or 1+ years of experience in using SQL and Python/R for analysis or modeling dynamic systems


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and visualization
  • Experience with Power BI and discrete event modeling tools
  • Experience with logistics, production, and capacity planning systems
  • Experience with global logistics concepts, nomenclature, and inherent distribution systems
  • Experience with lean, six sigma, and related production principles
  • Experience as a contributor to multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high stress environments
  • Excellent written and communication skills


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends when needed to meet major milestones
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%
  • This position is based in Redmond, WA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year

Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
