Description

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Worker to join our Operations Department.

Position Summary: Will perform basic indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks as required at assigned agency locations, completing basic electrical and plumbing repairs, groundskeeping and lawn maintenance, snow removal, and other projects as needed.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm with rotating on call responsibilities

Qualifications

MINIMUM Qualifications:





  • High School Diploma or Equivalent



  • At least 1 year of experience working in a Child Welfare or residential setting



  • Valid NYS Driver License in good condition as determined by the Agency



  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment physical, PPD and drug screen and an annual physical and PPD




Physical Demands and Work Environment:




  1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time



  2. Must be capable of lifting forty pounds alone.



  3. Capable of vigorous physical activity



  4. Able to safely operate an agency vehicle in accordance with NYS motor vehicle law



  5. Safely operate specific machinery (lawn mower, plow, kitchen equipment)



  6. Ability to negotiate step ladders not in excess of eight feet.
