About the Department |
Sponsored Programs and Regulatory Compliance Services (
SPARCS) is responsible for pre-award and nonfinancial post-award activities for contracts, grants and cooperative agreements. In partnership with College Research Offices, Sponsored Programs facilitates the preparation and submission of proposals to all external sponsors, and has administrative responsibility for more than 3,800 award actions securing more than $500M annually. Sponsored Programs staff negotiate and execute all sponsored funding agreements from Federal, State and local governments as well as nonprofit and industry sponsors. Sponsored Programs is responsible for non-monetary post-award management, outgoing subawards, and non-monetary agreements necessary for the conduct of research, such as collaboration and data use agreements.
Regulatory Compliance Services comprises oversight functions for protection of human and animal research subjects, conflict of interest, export controls, research integrity and other regulatory areas. |
Essential Job Duties |
The
RED Client Support Specialist provides direct support to campus-wide users of the Research Enterprise Data (
RED) system.
RED modules in production handle Animal Care and Use protocols and Conflict of Interest disclosures. A complex suite of modules supporting Sponsored Programs began implementation in 2023, and a module for Human Subjects research will follow. Clients include researchers and research administrators campus-wide.
Client business needs are varied, including entering research protocols into
RED, developing proposals for system-to-system submission to federal sponsors, capturing complex individual relationship information in a Conflict of Interest disclosure, locating financial information for a grant or contract, and creating/interpreting ad hoc reports.
The primary focus for this position will be supporting implementation of the Proposal Development module. The Specialist will participate in configuration, user acceptance testing and training for this module in order to support campus users when it goes into production in 2025. The Specialist will then guide campus users in developing, routing for internal approval, and submitting funding applications to sponsors, and submitting contracts, data use and other research agreements to Sponsored Programs for review and execution. |

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

The successful candidate will:

- have demonstrated effectiveness in a customer service role
- have a basic working knowledge of research administration
- be detail oriented
- have a high level of computer competency

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with sponsored project budgets preferred
- Experience with an electronic research administration system (e.g. InfoEd, Huron, Kuali) preferred
