Job Objective:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled technical and repair work in electrical repairs and in maintaining electrical elements of machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, lighting, generators, control and safety systems, communication equipment and production machines and equipment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clean and safe working environment.

  • Facilitate learning before, during, and after completion of any job or major activity.
  • Train and motivate fellow employees.
  • Interaction with Instrument Techs & Mechanics on maintenance issues and opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems.
  • Install and maintain all electrical equipment to ensure compliance with latest NEC, OSHA and NFPA codes and requirements.
  • Assist in installation and start -up of new equipment.
  • Maintain, repair electrical systems.
  • Conduct duties in a manner that provides for the utmost protection of the environment.
  • Report all incidents and near-misses related to personnel, equipment and the environment.
  • Relieve the Instrument Technician as needed.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job.
  • Understand and participate in MOC system.
  • Maintain equipment records and CMMS work order system.
  • Work with Maintenance Foremen and data base administrator to update equipment tasks, based on process/equipment changes to ensure accuracy of CMMS data.
  • Installs and/or repairs wiring, electrical, electronic parts, and equipment.
  • Ensures operation of electrical systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Installs new machines and equipment by installing power supply wiring and conduit to, and between, machines and equipment.
  • Repairs electrical systems and equipment by diagnosing malfunctioning apparatuses, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures; determining faulty wiring; and inspecting and testing malfunctioning machinery.
  • Maintains electrical equipment, parts, and supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.

  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years minimum experience in the maintenance, welding, and/or electrical service of equipment. Oil and gas field experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of high voltage electricity, generator systems, switch gear, and safety training.
  • Working knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in electrical repair and maintenance work.
  • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring systems and ability to apply this knowledge to work situations.
  • Ability to follow proper methods, procedures and safety precautions of line work.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability, and skill to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Required: State Journeyman Electrical Certification
