Summary of Position
The Front-End Web Developer will play an integral role in supporting the Undergraduate Admissions Office in their efforts to recruit and enroll prospective students by providing technical expertise and experience in the CRM application, Slate Technolutions. This individual will support the design and creation of web pages and components, CRM forms, admissions portals and html emails to ensure a seamless user experience across multiple platforms including the Slate Technolutions, admissions website and other digital communications.

Other minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience developing modern, responsive, and cross-browser-compatible websites using HTML/CSS and JavaScript
  • Proficiency with HTML5, including semantic HTML5 elements
  • Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass, Less or Stylus
  • Working knowledge of SEO principles and best practices
  • Knowledge and experience administering a Slate environment
  • Experience working in the areas of communications and/or marketing in higher education or related field
  • Working knowledge of Drupal or similar content management systems
  • Experience using scripting languages to automate recurring manual processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective team-player who can also work independently
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies

Duty/Responsibility

  • Design, code, test and implement custom admissions portals in Slate for prospective students and counselors
  • Build web applications in Slate using web development best practices
  • Transform app designs into front-end code with HTML/CSS and JavaScript
  • Create functional prototypes of website components and core website templates and deploy for testing and implementation in Slate and across the admissions websites
  • Write high-quality, scalable and reusable code that meet industry and university standards so that they can be easily referenced by other campus developers
  • Create functional prototypes of website components and core website templates and deploy for testing and implementation in Slate and across the Admissions websites
  • Provide training and develop documentation for end-users to reference
  • Devise and implement solutions to improve functionality and design of Slate portals and Admissions websites based on user feedback

E-mail Marketing Campaign Development and Analytic Tracking

  • Code custom email marketing campaigns, designs graphics and content for digital display
  • Integrate UTMs and analytics tracking to emails and Slate portals
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to create complex queries
  • Build email campaigns

Optimizing admission web presence and webpage maintenance

  • Adapt established best practices and technologies to develop fresh approaches and new standards for use within online engagement efforts
  • Work with back-end developers to integrate UI components with APIs and databases
  • Identify and develop process automation to increase efficiency with the day-to-day operations
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues and perform routine performance optimizations
  • Build web applications in Slate using web development best practices
  • Maintain understanding and knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices of web
