Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Summary:

Working under the direction of the Software Quality Assurance Manager, this individual will collaborate with developers, designers, product owners and other members of the QA team to move our products forward by working through requirements and design specifications, as well as through automated testing methods. The Quality Assurance Engineer will help to promote and maintain the QA process within the Software Development Life Cycle. They will develop and assist with testing solutions for both internal and external web applications. Success in this role will contribute to real, measurable cost savings for our clients and has the potential to make a meaningful impact towards carbon emissions reduction across the United States.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Test and support a diverse portfolio of internal and external software services and tools
  • Create and carry out manual test plans and procedures
  • Communicate and resolve product quality issues with the development team
  • Represent user interest and experience by providing feedback to designers, developers and product owners
  • Use understanding of end users and web application architecture to effectively find and communicate defects and their causes
  • Create and refine testing strategies that will allow Software Development to continue to deliver high quality products and initiatives

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Top-notch manual testing capabilities with the capacity and curiosity to learn and contribute to our automated testing solutions
  • Demonstrated self-starter with technical proficiency and sense of ownership
  • Knowledge and understanding of creating test plans, test cases, test procedures, test scripts, and expected results
  • Experience with one or more Agile tools used for tracking user stories and backlogs, such as Azure DevOps or Jira
  • Ability to work across multiple projects independently as well as collaboratively
  • Exceptional time/task management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with one or more scripting languages for testing
  • Exposure to API testing tools, such as Postman
  • Critical thinker with an open mind
