Position Summary |
The Metabolomics and Proteomics (
MAP) Core Facility in the Pharmacology Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire a full-time Research Project Manager to support the advancement of collaborative proteomics and metabolomics research on campus. As a University-operated recharge core, the
MAP Core Facility offers mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics services to internal and external researchers across the United States.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day organizational, operational and project management work of ongoing research. Duties include managing project design and implementation, facilitating discussions with collaborators, providing oversight of the overall project timelines, goals and guidelines, and assisting with budget management. Additional duties include managing
MAP core-related communications such as updating guidelines and maintaining the website, as well as grant support.
This Research Project Manager position will also support data analytics at the
MAP Core, including data analysis, data quality control and maintaining compliance with our data management plan. Strong acumen with proteomics, metabolomics and/or mass spectrometry expertise when contributing to manuscripts, conference presentations and research grant applications is needed. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or professional-level background in sponsored research administration, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. |

Preference will be given to the candidate with the following relevant experience:
Managing multi-site or multidisciplinary research projects; analyzing quantitative data; preparing reports and contributing to grant writing; preparing and managing research budgets; preparing manuscripts for publication; and strong communication skills and ability to foster teamwork. |
