Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Undergraduate Research, Scholarship & Creativity Office ( URSCO), which is part of Lloyd International Honors College, supports undergraduate research and its associated activities at the University of North Carolina Greensboro ( UNCG). URSCO serves as the central coordinating office for student and faculty development workshops, the Carolyn and Norwood Thomas Undergraduate Research and Creativity Expo, and various programs (including STAMPS, U- RISE, and Research Fellows) that financially support undergraduate students engaged in research activities, including travel and conference presentations. There are approximately 100 students and 20 faculty from various schools and offices on campus that this office supports through internal and external grants. The URSCO budget comprises over 10 funds, three overhead funds, and one state fund with a total annual budget of about $500,000.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of the URSCO Program Specialist is to work with the URSCO Faculty Director and will help manage the daily operations of the office, as well as handling academic enhancement coordination for UNCG's U- RISE program. Duties include grant management, inventory control, event planning, supervision of student workers, and faculty coordination. This position acts as the primary point of contact for faculty, students and other offices on campus, and performs other duties as specified by the Faculty Director of URSCO. The Program Specialist exercises a great deal of independence in performing the position's associated duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree, at least three years of administrative experience in higher education, teaching experience and experience working with grant-funded projects.
