Rutgers School of Health Professions (
SHP) is seeking a Student Assistant (Tutor) 20 Vacancies to work in the Department of Enrollment Management.
The School of Health Professions Student Assistant (Tutor) provides support to students from a range of multiple disciplines in the Health Professions field. Bridges the gap between the college and the needs of the student. Helps students make academic progress, while promoting independent learning and self-reliance. Keeps track of the students they work with and the nature of the work done with each student.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Assists the Office of Enrollment Management with various data collection and reporting with respect to tutor usage and student progress.
- Provides academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually.
- Attends periodic training sessions given by staff members to increase competency in working with students.
- Maintains records on each student who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment.
- Helps students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying and help students develop a high level of motivation in academic areas.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Currently enrolled as a SHP Rutgers' student pursuing a degree in a School of Health Professions discipline.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Students must have received a grade of "B" or higher in the course in which they wish to tutor.
- Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5.
- Must be patient, disciplined, and sensitive to our diverse student population.
- Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Possess superior organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel to all Rutgers School of Health Professions campuses.
- Demonstrated ability to willingly engage and interact with a diverse population of students and professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
- Must be self-directed and able to complete assignments in a timely manner.
