Description

The SMFA at Tufts University Print & Paper area is seeking a Part-Time Lecturer for a one-semester appointment for Spring 2025.

The successful candidate will teach PRT 0139 - Progressive Proof: Color.

Course Description: Color can be descriptive, emotional and graphic-signifying a range of interpretations and meanings. Learn color mixing, layering, and registration to vary hue and transparency in creating serial images that are developed through step and repeat print processes. Through projects, presentations, demonstrations, study room visits, and visiting artist lectures, explore how color can be used to further conceptual ideas through a series of progressive and variable printed proofs. Students encouraged to work across print media using processes of their own choosing.

The course is scheduled to meet Tuesdays from 8:30am to 2:00pm. The first class meeting will be January 21st, 2024. The course will meet in the etching, relief, and intaglio studios.

The instructor will also serve on end-of-semester review boards and provide feedback to students working across all media.


Qualifications

An MFA is required. Additional qualifications include prior teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicant must demonstrate excellence in scholarship, research, and lecturing, and have an active exhibition record. The successful applicant should be able to lead in-class discussions of artistic examples and assigned readings, engage with diverse students, and create an inclusive class environment.
