Position Summary
**WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION FROM ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF WORK STUDY AWARD** The UNM Information Security & Privacy Office (ISPO) is responsible for the development and maintenance of the University's Information Security Program, and providing institution-wide, platform independent professional services. Cybersecurity Incident Response and Cybersecurity Assessment services guide the University in handling information security risk. The ISPO's services enable the institution to respond to unauthorized disclosure of institutional information, and to identify areas where information assets are not adequately safeguarded in both enterprise and departmental systems and networks.
A Cybersecurity Assistant must have a working knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy principles and best practices. This position requires a combination of technical, analytical, and customer service skills with the ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Duties will include:
- Maintain knowledge of current technological development/trends in area of expertise
- Participate in projects to enhance information security and/or data privacy for UNM computing environments
- Respond to customer service requests maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism
- Write technical instructions in the use of programs and/or program modifications
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Ability to analyze and resolve information security and privacy problems
- Ability to communicate technical guidance and instructions to end-users
- Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems, software, and hardware
- Ability to simultaneously coordinate and complete multiple projects
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise
