Construction Services Operations Manager

S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Construction Services Operations Manager to join our Construction Services team in Nashville, Tennessee. Are you ready to contribute your education and knowledge to meaningful projects? Join us at S&ME!

As the Operations Manager for Field and Laboratory Services, you will lead a team of Managers, professionals, and administrative staff, focusing on achieving key department metrics, such as revenue growth, chargeability, billing, collections, and project profitability. You will work closely with local leadership and the Regional Director of Client Development to identify, develop, and secure project opportunities, build and maintain client relationships, and ensure project success. Additionally, you will oversee project management for key clients, manage project deliverables, and ensure compliance with the AASHTO Quality System.

Your Day-to-Day:



  • Provide direct supervision to Field and Laboratory Services Managers, professionals, and administrative support staff, ensuring team productivity and alignment with department goals.
  • Manage department metrics, including revenue growth, staff utilization, project billing, collections, and profitability.
  • Lead business development efforts by collaborating with local leadership and client development teams to identify and secure new projects.
  • Oversee project management for key clients, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget, including billing and accounts receivable (AR) tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with the AASHTO Quality System, maintaining quality standards across all operations and projects.



What You Bring:



  • A High School diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or a Construction related field, preferred)
  • 6+ years of experience in Operational and/or Project Management, experience within the A/E/C industry
  • Experience building and maintaining client relationships, proven ability to grow a business with experience winning work and increasing backlog;
  • The ability and desire to divide time between the office and regular site visits in the field to support and engage field staff
  • Demonstrated positive leadership and management skills with a good understanding of business metrics, sales, client development and service, safety policies/procedures, human resources policies/procedures, risk management concepts, and other applicable project management procedures
