The Northwestern Juvenile Project is 30-year longitudinal study of the needs and outcomes of youth in juvenile detention as they have aged (participants are now median age 43 years). Interviewers travel to participants' homes (or nearby restaurants or libraries) throughout the Chicagoland area to conduct interviews and collect health indicators including dried blood spots. Interviewers assess physical and mental health, social support, neighborhood resources, problem behaviors, adverse experiences, firearm involvement, and other areas. Interviewers edit interviews and administrative forms and attend weekly team meetings and weekly supervision. Time permitting, interviewers also help to locate hard-to find participants through tracking procedures including online database searches, sending letters, and making phone calls. This position requires a reliable vehicle and auto insurance (mileage is reimbursed). Interviewers ensure that all activities are completed by strictly following all relevant current local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy and procedures developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
