Overview

The Grants Manager plays a key role in the achievement of LifeLong's mission and annual revenue goals consistent with agency priorities. They are responsible for working across multiple teams to manage a portfolio of grants and contracts to ensure the success of the grants management lifecycle and that all deliverables are met. The Grants Manager is responsible for managing all post-award activities including funder and community partner engagements, developing and tracking grant renewals and awards, facilitating internal communications of grant awards, developing and submitting grant reports, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and private grant-related conditions.

This is a full time, exempt, benefit eligible position in Berkeley, CA.

Benefits

Compensation: $87k - $90k/year. We offer excellent benefits including: medical, dental, vision (including dependent and domestic partner coverage), generous leave benefits including ten paid holidays, Flexible Spending Accounts, 403(b) retirement savings plan.

Responsibilities

    Grant and Contract Management:
  • Manage a portfolio of grants and contracts throughout the grant management lifecycle.
  • Ensure all grant activities are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables.
  • Funder and Community Partner Engagement:
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with funders and community partners.
  • Serve as a point of contact for grant-related communications with funders and community partners within grants manager's portfolio.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure grant activities align with community needs and funder priorities.
  • Grant Renewals and Awards:
  • Identify grant renewal opportunities and prepare renewal applications.
  • Monitor grant award notifications and coordinate acceptance procedures.
  • Negotiate grant terms and conditions with select funders as necessary.
  • Collaboration and Internal Communications:
  • Facilitate internal communications regarding grant awards, timelines, and requirements.
  • Coordinate with program staff, finance, and other departments to ensure alignment of grant activities with organizational priorities.
  • Provide regular updates on grant status to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner within the Planning Department to meet overarching goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Grant Reporting:
  • Develop and submit timely and accurate grant reports to funders, highlighting program accomplishments and financial performance.
  • Coordinate with program staff to gather data and information for grant reports.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting guidelines and deadlines.
  • Compliance Management:
  • Stay informed about federal, state, local, and private grant-related regulations and requirements.
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to ensure compliance with grant conditions.
  • Conduct regular audits of grant activities to identify and address compliance issues.
  • Budget Monitoring:
  • Work closely with grants accounting team to monitor grant budgets and expenditures.
  • Identify budget variances and work with program staff to develop corrective action plans as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and financial reporting to funders.
  • Capacity Building:
  • Provide guidance and support to staff involved in grant implementation.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned with internal stakeholders to strengthen grant management processes.
  • Identify opportunities for organizational growth and sustainability through grant funding.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks to grant implementation and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor grant performance indicators and take proactive measures to address issues as they arise.
  • Maintain documentation of risk management efforts and lessons learned for future grant cycles.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in evaluation of the effectiveness of grant management processes and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Participate in strategic planning efforts to align grant activities with organizational priorities.
  • Seek feedback from stakeholders to inform continuous improvement efforts.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, or related field, or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • At least three years of successful grants management or development experience with a non-profit or public agency.
  • Excellence in grants management for fund development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly organized, high Strong analytical skills -- ability to compile and analyze data using health center and other data sources.
  • Capacity to remain flexible and to manage deadlines and multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and to work under deadline in a positive, friendly, supportive manner.
  • Familiarity with data management systems.
  • Familiarity with health care delivery systems and health policy, especially regarding special populations.
  • Knowledge of community health center needs and services, and program development experience for LifeLong's target populations and core services.
