Job Purpose

The principal purpose of this position is to support Plant Quality Managers with project execution of high payback / priority projects as well as ensuring a safe introduction of new or batteries transferred from other factories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safe launch

  • Responsible for Safe Launch activities for new TPPL products (NPI's) as well as product transfers between facilities.
  • Support Advanced Quality with internal PPAP development.
  • Review results of Advanced Quality and Engineering documentation (factory control plans, DFMEA) and test results (DVP&R reports vs. regulatory or customer requirements) for final signoff.
  • Generate procedure for factories to initiate test plans, starting at SOP, to gradually release shipments.
  • Employ and update PFMEA as risks are reduced post validation and safe launch testing.

Scrap reduction

  • Coordinate priorities with factory Quality Managers based on MDI Paretos and scrap loss categories.
  • Project execution and coordination with various factory departments to reduce scrap losses, minimum 1 / factory.
  • Develop and monitor KPI dashboards to set baseline and ensure effectiveness / control.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control practices to ensure critical factors (X's) are in control to ensure outcome (Y) is within specification.
  • Work directly with factory Engineers (Quality, Process, etc.), Operations, or Product Engineering personnel to align activities around top priorities.
  • Other duties as required by Manager.

This person will not have any supervisory responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Deep understanding of battery manufacturing (minimum of 3 years)
  • Project leadership experience (minimum of 3 years)
  • Knowledge of DMAIC practices
