Job Purpose

This position will primarily support the Engineering & Production departments of Sumter Metal Products. Our goal is to produce high-quality metal fabricated assemblies in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while ensuring on-time delivery to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must be capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and assembly details for fabrication.
  • Assist in engineering and fabrication Motive Power trays, layouts, components, and accessories.
  • Sheet Metal, Metal working or Fabrication Experience needed.
  • Drafting and CAM support using AutoCad, SolidWorks and Windchill. Willing to Training in with CAM Software.
  • Creating new/revised materials for entry into SAP / SAP Experience, Creating materials, BOM's and routings.
  • Assist, develop and Coordinate Manufacturing standards.
  • Collaborating with designers, engineers, and technicians
  • Assist in managing projects for production development, design criteria, product and process improvement.
  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and analyzing data relating to Engineering-sponsored projects...including prototype builds, new products, and new process introduction.
  • Provide technical assistance, as needed, to Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and other members of the Sumter Metals Team.

Provide Support Functions for local Engineer, Corporate and Materials.

Qualifications
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE: Two year degree or equivalent certification or 4-years experience in design engineering or design-related engineering, proven work history of AutoCad/ Drafting / Solid Works knowledge and exposure, and above average computer skills in Microsoft Office Software.
  • Fabrication / sheet metal, manufacturing experience, CNC or machine and CAD / CAM
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. The candidate will be required to write routine reports and correspondence and must have effective oral and written communication skills.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, check drawing accuracy, use formulas involving area, circumference, and volume. The candidate must have the ability to understand and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. The employee is regularly required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  2. The employee must occasionally move or lift up to100-pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
