Firmwide Outsourced Solutions and Managed Services Director, Senior Enterprise Architect

RSM's Outsourced Solutions and Managed Services team provides a strategic bridge between business development, practice leadership, customers, and internal operations. This newly created team offers the opportunity to work in a startup type environment and help build the offering from the beginning and help shape the future of the Managed Services Practice.

We are currently seeking an experienced an Outsourced Solutions and Managed Services Director, Enterprise Architect. The Enterprise Architect (EA) is a strategic leader responsible for developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture that aligns business and IT strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of the organization's business objectives, processes, and technology landscape. The EA will leverage TOGAF and other architectural frameworks to guide the design, development, and implementation of enterprise solutions.

The ideal candidate will work with our clients to design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient enterprise solutions. The individual will also work across our Consulting practice with various teams collaboratively to design new services and solutions for our practice. From concept to delivery, this position is critical to our mission of delivering high-quality services and achieving customer satisfaction. As an Enterprise Architect, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to understand business requirements, define solution architectures, and ensure that we can deliver what we design and develop.

Key Responsibilities:

The initial focus will be to build an enterprise-grade digital Service Delivery platform architecture compromised of full service, standardized systems, tools, standards, portals and methods to be used by RSM teams for all aspects of client delivery. This digital platform must allow for ease of integration between various tools and systems, analytics, and support the delivery processes on an end-to-end basis. This platform should support secure integration with client systems, internal operational systems and support the reporting requirements and performance requirements of the business. Re-use of existing systems, tools, integration should be a first priority. You will also be asked to:

  • Define and communicate the enterprise architecture vision, principles, and standards.

  • Create and maintain architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and artifacts.

  • Assess the current IT environment and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop and implement strategies to modernize the IT infrastructure.

Business and IT Alignment:

  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand their strategic goals and translate them into IT requirements.

  • Work across pursuit teams (including commercial, solution architecture, transition, sales, legal, etc.) to establish and ensure alignment on client opportunities.

  • Ensure IT investments are aligned with business objectives and deliver measurable value.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between business and IT teams.

Architecture Governance:

  • Establish and enforce architecture governance processes and standards.

  • Review and approve architectural designs and solutions.

  • Manage architectural risks and issues.

Technology Leadership:

  • Stay current with technology trends and emerging technologies.

  • Evaluate innovative technologies and their potential impact on the business.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the IT organization.

Change Management:

  • Develop and implement change management strategies for architectural initiatives.

  • Communicate the impact of architectural changes to stakeholders.

  • Manage resistance to change and build consensus.

Solution Design and Development:

  • Lead the design of enterprise solutions in alignment with client requirements and industry best practices.

  • Work across the various scope areas and lines of business to ensure development of a universal and consistent solution to meet client requirements.

  • Develop comprehensive architectural blueprints that address business needs and integrate seamlessly with existing systems.

  • Ensure architectural integrity and consistency across projects and solutions.

  • Oversee the infusion of efficiencies, productivity, and technological innovation across solutions to focus on client value creation.

Client Engagement:

  • Work closely with clients to gather and analyze business requirements.

  • Present architectural solutions and gain buy-in from client stakeholders.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance on technology and architecture.

Project Leadership:

  • Collaborate with project managers and development teams to ensure successful project development and execution.

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance throughout the solution development lifecycle.

Innovation and Best Practices:

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.

  • Work with functional teams to develop and implement Go-to-Market digital solutions as part of the Managed Services offerings.

  • Drive continuous improvement by incorporating innovative solutions and methodologies.

  • Mentor and coach team members to foster a culture of excellence and innovation. Work with existing teams to achieve productivity goals.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of architectures, designs, and processes.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure documentation is updated and accessible to relevant teams.

  • Experience of managing RFP responses - craft win themes, draft solutions, ability to price to win.

  • Improvement in system performance and reliability

  • Increased adoption of enterprise standards and frameworks

  • Successful implementation of architectural initiatives

Additional Considerations

  • Enterprise Continuum: The Enterprise Architect should be familiar with the different levels of architecture (enterprise, solution, and component) and how they relate to each other.

  • Architecture Development Method (ADM): A strong understanding of the TOGAF ADM is essential for guiding architecture development projects.

  • Architecture Content Framework (ACF): The EA should be able to leverage the ACF to structure and document architectural artifacts.

  • Architecture Board: Depending on the organization's size and complexity, the EA may be involved in establishing and leading an architecture board.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in enterprise architecture, with a strong background in solution development.

  • Proven track record of delivering complex enterprise solutions for diverse clients.

  • Expertise in architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar.

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing, microservices architecture, and enterprise integration patterns.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect with a strong understanding of TOGAF and other architectural frameworks.

  • Deep understanding of business processes, data, and technology.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a complex and fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in enterprise architecture tools and modeling languages (e.g., ArchiMate, UML).

  • Hands-on experience with modern technologies and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $129,300 - $259,600

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
