About the Department

Our mission is to empower creative problem solvers. We accomplish this by providing training, access to shared equipment, and resources from ideation to creation. We support a broad spectrum of adult makers pursuing projects including academic, research, entrepreneurial, and personal in nature.

We offer three core services: membership, experiential making programs, and prototyping services. Through these offerings we aim to empower transformation for our city and region through low-cost access to a comprehensive community workshop.

Located in the 1819 Innovation Hub, we are part of a team of creatives, engineers, educators, and entrepreneurs dedicated to the vision of defining a new era of innovation and impact at UC.

Job Overview

The Office of Innovation is excited to announce that we are hiring a career position in our Makerspace team: Makerspace Coordinator. Reporting to the Makerspace Director, we are seeking a Coordinator with a broad skillset and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, people, and schedules concurrently. We seek a highly organized individual with extensive knowledge of Office 365 (including Teams, Excel / PowerQuery, and SharePoint); expertise in customer relations; experience developing and implementing business processes; and the ability to maintain clear and timely communications to join our team.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate processes for the assigned projects, events, and service unit; make recommendations regarding the development of operating processes; continuously update and improve processes, identify problems and recommend and implement solutions.
  • Provide leadership by serving as a unit resource, consultant and liaison for directors and administrators within designated unit, as well as external offices and agencies to ensure conformity and compliance with operating procedures, university policies, collective bargaining agreements, state regulations and federal laws.
  • Assist administrator with analyzing and interpreting data and other related activities.
  • Review, evaluate and implement grants, project proposals, agreements, training programs and other projects; and monitor and evaluate progress.
  • Research, develop, edit and prepare documents and reports.
  • Manage all aspects and agendas for special events, including coordinating special speakers, visitors, and workshops to ensure compliance with state regulations and university policies and procedures and established service standards.
  • May monitor and reconcile ledgers and budgets for a designated unit(s).
  • Represent the university in a positive manner and attend meetings/conferences and may represent the administrator with moderate authority to make commitments.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

One (1) year of relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Knowledge of university recharge processes, expense coding, and PCI compliance is highly valued as is experience or interest in developing community engagement programs. Additionally, a thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, and experience managing email and social media campaigns are desired. Experience hiring and managing student workers, understanding of membership management systems, working with databases, and a general understanding of making processes are all beneficial skills.
