Requirements
Bachelor-s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering
- Eight (8) years- professional experience in installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or testing of any major system/equipment
- Demonstrated experience conducting environmental qualification testing to include: Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing, vibration testing, mechanical shock testing, ingress protection testing, salt spray testing, sand and dust testing, and temperature and humidity testing
- Demonstrated experience conducting platform installation testing, to include Pre-Installation Check-Out (PICO), System Operational Verification Test (SOVT), and System Certification testing
- Demonstrated experience performing form, fit, and functional testing of replacement components, assemblies and sub-assemblies
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintain test plans, to include
- Demonstrated expertise with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, such as Inventor or Solid Works, in one of more of the following areas:
- Demonstrated experience preparing and delivering completed test reports at the conclusion of the test events.
- Demonstrated experience training junior Engineering Technicians and laboratory personnel
- Experience providing reclamation support to test, repair, certify, and package reclaimed assets
- Possess a current Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance
- Excellent analytical, research, and leadership skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills
- Ten (10) years- experience supporting DoD or Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Programs in installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or testing of any major system/equipment
- Demonstrated expertise performing form, fit, and functional testing of replacement components, assemblies and sub-assemblies in support of DoD sustainment engineering solutions
- Proficiency with on-site installation, troubleshooting, and testing of products and equipment in support of DoD programs
- Demonstrated experience providing reclamation support to test, repair, certify, and package reclaimed assets from afloat platforms and shore sites
- Demonstrated experience leading and supervising junior Engineering Technicians
- Thorough understanding of NSWC operations
- Demonstrated experience performing Production Acceptance Test and Evaluation (PAT-E)/First Article Test (FAT) of systems
Description
- Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions
- Follows specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment
- Conducts various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data
- Extracts and compiles a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation
- Assists in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information
- Participates in design, fabrication, integration, and testing of electronic circuits and mechanical packaging including the development of electrical and mechanical prototypes
- Performs detailed design tasks requiring the application of CAD equipment; designs projects such as simulation, printed circuit boards, and electronic and electrical assemblies requiring development of schematics
- Performs on-site installation, troubleshooting, and testing of company products and equipment. Provides technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects of system equipment
- Develops test procedures, test plans, test reports, and procedures to maintain lab facilities and calibrate test equipment. May conduct engineering tests and detailed experimental testing
- Assists in training technical assistants including junior level electronics technicians, CAD specialists, support staff, cooperative students, and temporary employees to perform general fabrication, assembly, test and evaluation, and documentation tasks
- Establishes procedures for the maintenance of laboratory facilities and equipment including cable diagrams, equipment schematics, and configurations to support various system arrangements. May train laboratory personnel to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment
- Supervises and performs environmental qualification testing to include Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing, vibration testing, mechanical shock testing, ingress protection testing, salt spray testing, sand and dust testing, and temperature and humidity testing
- Supervises and performs platform installation testing, to include Pre-Installation Check-Out (PICO), System Operational Verification Test (SOVT), and System Certification testing
- Supervises and performs form, fit, and functional testing of replacement components, assemblies and sub-assemblies in support of sustainment engineering solutions
- Develops and maintains test plans, to include Production Acceptance Testing (PAT-E/Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), environmental qualification test plans, and platform installation test plans
- Prepares and delivers a completed test report at the conclusion of the test event. The test report shall include a summary of all test activities and final test results of a testing project
