Requirements

    Associates Degree in any Graphic Arts or English discipline
  • Two + (2+) years- of experience in the following areas:
    • Drafting
    • Modeling
    • Related detailed drawing
    • Using formulas to visualize and portray designs
  • Experience performing 3D modeling and additive manufacturing in support of project objectives
  • Demonstrated proficiency of applicable CAD equipment such as Inventor or Solid Works
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable MIL-SPEC/STD-s
  • Demonstrated experience
  • Possess a current Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills

Desired Skills

  • Two (2) years- experience supporting DoD or Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Programs
  • Experience and understanding of routine engineering problems including simple stress analysis, heat transfer, vibrations, acoustic isolation, strength/ weight efficiency, availability of materials, ease of fabrication, interchangeability and problems of related complexity
  • Understanding of advanced drafting techniques and practical fabrication techniques
  • Experience generating full design description for selected solution to include developing a set of -make-to,- -buy-to,- -reuse-to,- specifications
  • Thorough understanding of NSWC operations


Description

PRIMARY DUTIES - RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs and executes layouts of complex products and equipment of an electrical or mechanical nature
  • Performs original design work after receiving the design goal or problem, general method or processing and engineering advice on related theoretical aspects to be taken into account in the design
  • Design work requires individual creativity, application of advanced drafting techniques and thorough knowledge of practical fabrication techniques
  • Requires the solution of routine engineering problems including simple stress analysis, heat transfer, vibrations, acoustic isolation, strength/ weight efficiency, availability of materials, ease of fabrication, interchangeability and problems of related complexity
  • Performs 3D modeling and additive manufacturing in support of project objectives
  • Develops and maintains system models utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) such as Inventor or Solid Works. This includes generating a full design description for the selected solution; developing a set of -make-to,- -buy-to,- -reuse-to,- specifications; and initiating the development or acquisition of system products and enabling products
  • Requires the exercise of considerable initiative, latitude, independent judgment and the ability to design independently with only general technical direction

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL
